RISE-UP is open to High School Seniors who are coming to ASU and interested in Science.  Because RISE-UP is a research-based program participants will work as a member of research team, take classes together, and participate in seminars and other opportunities to learn about science. 

Application Materials for Fall 2008 MUST be received by April 18, 2008.  Your RISE-UP application can not be considered until you have applied to ASU.  in addition to contact information, application materials include: 1) Names of at least 2 teachers we can contact to learn more about you, 2) an essay about why you are interested in research, and 3) permission to get copies of your HS transcript and ACT scores from the ASU Admissions office.

Write a brief essay on your interests related to science and research. In what kinds of science are you interested (biology, chemistry, physics, botany, environmental science, etc.)?
If you did a science fair project, please tell us about it?  What did you learn from that project?  Did you enjoy it?  How do you expect research to contribute to your career goals? 

Your essay will help us to evaluate your potential for success in our program. The essay is a very important part of the process of selecting RISE-UP participants. Prior to writing the essay you
may want to visit the research projects web page to learn more about the research our faculty mentors are doing.

NOTE: If you’re interested in pursuing a professional degree (MD, Law, Nursing, etc.) this program is not ideally suited to your interests.
